In vitro screening for antitumour activity of Clinopodium vulgare L. (Lamiaceae) extracts.
Aqueous extract of Clinopodium vulgare L. showed strong antitumour activity when tested in vitro on A2058 (human metastatic melanoma), HEp-2 (epidermoid carcinoma, larynx, human) and L5178Y (mouse lymphoma) cell lines-6 h after treatment disintegration of the nuclei and cell lysis started. Applied at a concentration of 80 microg/ml it reduced the cell survival to 1.0, 5.6 and 6.6%, respectively...
متن کاملStem and Leaf Anatomy of Three Taxa in Lamiaceae
Stem and leaf anatomy of Origanum rotundifolium Boiss., O. vulgare L. ssp. viride (Boiss.) Hayek, Teucrium hircanum L., belonging to Lamiaceae were characterized and compared. Some important differences were determined in the taxa. In addition, trichome diversity was investigated by light microscopy and three main types of trichomes (peltate, capitate glandular and non-glandular) were observed ...

The type plant of Allium akaka S.G. Gmelin ex Roem. & Schult. was probably collected in the mountains west of Bandar Anzali. Here plants fitting the original description are extant, and one was selected as epitype. This taxon in the strict sense is not conspecific with A. latifolium Jaub. & Spach, and is morphologically well separable from topo-typical plants of A. haemanthoides Boiss. & Reut. ...
متن کاملNutlet micromorphology of the genus Marrubium L. and allies and its systematic implication (Lamiaceae: tribe Marrubieae)
Nutlets of 20 taxa of the tribe Marrubieae were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and detailed descriptions of nutlet micromorphological features for all examined taxa are provided. The nutlets exhibited variation in size, shape, color and surface sculpturing. The nutlets shape of most species studied is ovate, but rounded, broad ovate, elliptic, lanceolate, triangular and oblong c...

A study on the variation of leaf venation patterns was conducted on 21 taxa of the genus Ficus in Peninsular Malaysia. The results showed the existence of eight leaf venation patterns based on veinlets, the ultimate marginal and areolar venation. The majority of species, such as F. annulata, F. benghalensis, F. benjamina, F. deltoidea var. angustifolia, F. deltoidea var. kunstleri, F. depressa,...
